What's involved in a Domestic EPC Assessment?
When we visit your property, we carry out a full assessment of the home’s energy features. This includes measuring floor areas, inspecting insulation levels, checking heating systems, windows, and lighting. We also take photos (for audit purposes only) and note construction details that affect energy performance.
The visit usually takes around 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of the property. After the assessment, we calculate the energy rating and lodge the EPC on the official register, typically within 24–48 hours.

Boiler Efficiency
Your boiler plays a key role in your property’s energy performance. Modern condensing boilers with programmer and thermostat controls are far more efficient than older models. A new boiler can significantly improve your EPC rating by reducing heat loss and fuel consumption.

Windows & Glazing
Windows influence both heat retention and energy loss. Double or triple glazing, along with insulated frames, can improve your home’s thermal efficiency. Upgraded glazing reduces drafts, keeps warmth in during winter, and can noticeably raise your EPC score.
Wall Construction &
Insulation
Walls are one of the biggest sources of heat loss in any home. Older properties often have solid brick walls with no insulation, which can lower your EPC rating. Homes with cavity walls that have been properly insulated will retain heat more effectively, leading to better energy performance and lower heating costs.

Energy Efficient
Lighting
Lighting is a small but visible part of an EPC assessment. Upgrading to energy-efficient options like LED bulbs can help improve your rating, particularly in older homes still using halogen fittings. It’s a simple, low-cost improvement that reduces electricity use and contributes to a more energy-efficient property overall.
